In 2015, I took a big step in my professional career and resigned from a permanent position in a completely different industry. At that time, I had been dreaming, calculating and planning for a few years and was ready to jump. Ready to really get into the book industry.
I started a proofreading business that got off to a flying start. At the same time, I finished writing my first novel that I sent to publishers. But after a year or so, when the rejections started to come in one after another, my lack of patience thought it was going too slowly. So I chose to do the job myself and started my own publishing house!
I published two of my own books as well as 20 other fantastic titles from other authors before I put the business aside to focus entirely on my own writing. I would have loved to continue as a publisher, but there was simply not enough time.
Since 2018, I have been a full-time writer with books published by some Sweden's largest publishers, for example HarperCollins, Bokfabriken and Historiska Media. At first, I only wrote in the humor/feelgood genre. They were books based on recognition, playing with prejudices and an awful lot of under-the-belt humor. I have written about class differences, ageism, parents who sell drugs to earn money for their children's class fund. And more...
But after a bunch of light-hearted feel-good novels, I needed to do something new. I wanted my writing projects to be bigger and give me a challenge. That's why I started writing historically and the result was my best-selling series "Ellinge", which focuses on what it was like to be a young woman in Sweden during World War II. And now I mainly write historical novels, there is so much to tell about our history and I have many books left in me!
In 2025 it was time to take the next step in my writing career; I had tried to find a literary agent who wanted to represent me abroad but only got a "thank you, but no thanks" answer. A couple said yes and I let them try. But my poor patience acted up again when nothing happened. So I did what I did before: took matters into my own hands and became my own agent. And it turned out to be a good decision, my books will now be released in Denmark, Belgium and the Netherlands. And that's just the beginning!
